You Don’t Need To Do Half The Shit You’re Currently Doing
Distractions. They’re all distractions.
“Tom, you’re talking to four people at once who don’t give a single shit about you.”
That thought ran through my mind on Instagram the other day. I was talking with a bunch of random people at the same time for no apparent reason. I don’t know why.
I heard my parents laughing downstairs — I’ve been living with them the last few months. I came home from the Philippines to spend Christmas with them and catch up.
Now I get here and I spend more time talking to randoms than my parents?
There is so many fucking problems with the scenario I just described. I’m wasting time, I’m not spending moments with my family, and I’m essentially doing something with zero intentionality.
Sometimes the simplest thing we can do to straighten our lives out is ask ourselves one simple question:
Why the fuck am I doing this right now?
Why am I angrily responding to this nobody on Facebook?
Why am I liking pictures on Instagram of models I’ll never meet?
Let’s face it: Our world is full of shiny objects.
