When John Wick came out in 2014, it took the world by storm.

It’s groundbreaking action, mysterious assassin underworld, and legendary main character made it the first movie of its’ kind in the action genre — which is saying something.

Today I wanted to break down how the first 30 minutes of John Wick are the most important of the entire franchise, despite the fact that John does little to no killing in it.

Without a compelling first act, we wouldn’t have John Wick 2, 3, or 4.
