Why Do Both Of My Choices Suck On Election Day?
I voted!
It should be an amazing feeling. It should feel great to give your vote of confidence to a candidate who you think will lead America into a brighter future.
Instead I feel like I just ate a turd sandwich.
I feel dirty inside. I feel like I did something wrong.
Everybody always tells you to vote, but when both candidates have a bevy of reasons to NOT vote for them, well, it’s like that meme where the guy can’t figure out which red button to press.

“Nobody is a neutral-willed donkey, son.”
That’s something my Mom loves to tell me. What it means is, we lean one way or the other in every decision we make even if we believe we’re undecided. Next time you come up against an impossible decision, act like somebody’s pointing a gun at your head and forcing you to choose.
You’ll make a decision in record time, I promise you.
I’m sorry for the visual, but this election sure feels like somebody’s put my finger on the launch button of two nuclear weapons, forcing me to press one.
If you’re literally starving to death, what would you do? I remember that amazing scene from Snowpiercer where Chris Evans recalls having to eat a baby because he was so hungry.
It was his best acting yet in my opinion. He was so disgusted with himself, yet in the moment when he was starving to death he couldn’t help it.
All of the above. That’s what this choice feels like. It feels like all of the above.
Eating babies. Nuclear weapons. Shotguns to the forehead. The fate of the United States hanging in the balance.
My only question is this..
Why in the hell are these my only two choices?
It’s An Impossible Choice For Me
I’ll give you some insights into my political opinions.
I like Joe Biden. I think he’s a pretty good guy. In a perfect world, I’d vote for him without a second thought. My problem is that he’s losing his mind.
Then you got Trump. What can I say about Trump that hasn’t already been said?
Voting for Trump is like taking a barbed-wire baseball bat to the face. Does that sum it up enough for everybody? Goodie.
I didn’t vote for Trump last time because, well, he’s Trump. But I do like some of his policies — particularly when it comes to the economy. If I had it my way, I’d probably have a conservative in office who wasn’t, I don’t know, a complete baboon.
So what in the hell do I do?
I’m not a Trump supporter by any means, but I don’t know if I’m ready for the uncertainty of a Joe Biden presidency..
I’m not real hot on Joe Biden’s future, but do I want the rest of the world to continue laughing at us for the next four years?
Why can’t we just have someone who’s, I don’t know, normal (and sane)?
Someone who’s not losing their mind. Someone who CAN stop acting like a child for five seconds.
Why are we in this position in the first place? Why do both of my choices suck on election day? Again?
I’m mostly concerned with policy as a voter, but both candidates have serious problems when you look at the bigger picture. Trump is Trump and Biden seems to be losing his mind with each passing second.
I’m not sure what’s going to cause America to lose respect more — an idiot or someone who can’t even finish a sentence.
When I passed my vote this year, I held my nose. I don’t know if that’s because my vote stank to high heavens or if I’m holding my breath for the future. Or both.
In my mind, a vote for either candidate would’ve left me feeling the same way.
Let’s hope four years from now it’ll be different.
