Look, I Don’t Hate Online Courses, But...
Hello readers! :)
I wanted to write a follow-up post to my article from Tuesday.
It’s fun to be able to explain yourself better with long-form articles. :)
I wanted to zero in on some of the things I said this week..
“Writers are realizing that niches and personal brands and courses and money are ultimately toxic to the very thing we all adore… Writing!”
A lot of you might look at that statement and say something like “Oh, so Tom doesn’t like online courses anymore!”
Given the general vibe of my latest piece, I can understand why you might draw that conclusion.
But that wasn’t what I was trying to get at.
My point, at the core, was that when we introduce money into the equation, our authenticity as writers can get corrupted.
And that’s the real enemy here.
Honestly, I don’t have a problem with online courses.
“Oh Tom, you’re only saying that because you still have online courses.”
Well maybe I have online courses because I believe in their transformational power.
If a course helps somebody, I have zero problems with that. And you shouldn’t either.
