Jealous Of Other Medium Writers? Here’s How To Get Over It
I’m not afraid to admit that I get jealous of my peers.
It happens all the time, actually, and if you’re trying to make a name for yourself online, it’s probably happening to you, too.
Normally I’d say that getting jealous of someone is terrible and you should do your best to NOT get in your own way, but today I wanted to talk about how it can be an advantage.
Ready?
Jealousy Does One Of Two Things..
To me, jealousy makes you bitter and resentful. That’s a natural response to seeing your peers outperform you..
It’s how you react after you feel this bitterness and resentment that defines whether jealousy is good or bad for you.
One pathway to go down after jealousy is to shrivel up into yourself and blame a variety of factors outside of your control for why someone is doing better than you.
And you know what? You’re probably right. You’re probably right that someone is more privileged than you and that’s why they’re doing better.
However we shouldn’t let these factors freeze us into doing nothing.
And that can definitely happen — and it’s tragic when it does. It has happened to me before.
