Disney Is In Big Trouble And They Deserve Every Bit Of It
“Congratulations! You’ve been accepted into the Disney College Program!”
That email in 2014 changed my life.
I was about to go intern at Walt Disney World for 8 whole months, back when I thought Disney was the best company in the world.
Well, it still was back then..
I had the time of my life. I created magical moments for park guests, worked in high-pressure situations during the Summer, and made lifelong friends.
I was so darn proud to have been a cast member.
Then Bob Chapek took over the company.
He made the parks so much worse.
I recently heard that the average cost of a family vacation to Disney World was $8,000. Chapek thought that by increasing ticket prices, it would limit overcrowding and boost revenue.
Well, it certainly worked, but it’s made things very hard for the normal everyday person to come to Disney.
Bob Iger, Chapek’s predecessor, was apparently alarmed at the rising ticket prices, and that’s one of the things I felt most bitter about.
How money-hungry Disney was. They rolled out a paid fast-pass system, created a new Star Wars hotel that costs $3,000 per night to stay…
