I put Ryan’s book down and exhaled. I used to know the things I read in his book, The Obstacle is the Way. I used to know that pain, loneliness, and introspection meant I was pushing myself as a traveler and as a man.

I realized in that moment, sitting on my bed with his book in my hands, that I missed reading.

I really, really missed it.

I’ve undergone a transformation over the last two weeks.

I’m a totally different Tom. I’ve read two books. I’ve cooked five dinners. I’ve worked out 7 times. I’ve journaled 5 pages front and back. I’ve gotten much closer to my Dad.

It doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, when you combine them all together, they’ve made a massive impact on my life.

I feel like I’m doing the right things, and by extension that makes me feel like I’m moving in the right direction instead of stagnating. Here’s five things…
