Maybe You Should Quit Writing

I got an email from a writing friend the other day.

They asked me if getting back on Medium would be a good idea.

Just for kicks, I took a look at their profile and saw something I couldn’t believe..

They hadn’t posted on Medium for almost a year.

I was dumbfounded because this person is a writing hero of mine and has basically the same amount of followers that I do here.

How could someone who’s seen so much writing success want to quit? That brings me to my main point:

I could NEVER do that.

I could never stop writing online.

I’d have to share my thoughts via LinkedIn or Medium or Substack. Even if I was making zero money from it, I’d HAVE to keep writing online in some form because I love it.

And if you can take long breaks from writing without missing it at all..

Then maybe you should consider quitting.

Because you probably don’t love it, and life is too short to do things you don’t love.
